A properly maintained hearing aid should last five years, and proper maintenance is really pretty simple. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your hearing aid.
- Six easy ways to care for your hearing aid:*
1. Keep your hearing aid away from heat and moisture.
2. Replace dead batteries immediately.
3. Clean your hearing aid as instructed.
4. Don't use hairspray or other hair-care products while wearing your aid.
5. Turn off your hearing aid when you're not using it.
6. Keep replacement batteries and small aids away from children and pets. - Practice putting your hearing aid into your ear and taking it out, replacing the batteries, etc., with your audiologist/hearing specialist until you're comfortable.*
- Be sure that your hearing instrument meets all of your listening needs (in dining halls and restaurants, while watching TV, etc.).**
